Jillian Minix, LAC, LCADC
Meet Jill
Hello! I'm so glad you're here. Taking the first step to find a therapist who truly understands your journey can be challenging, and I deeply respect your courage in seeking support. I'm dedicated to creating a supportive and affirming space where you can feel seen, validated, and empowered.
I am a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) in the state of NJ. I earned my Master’s degree from Capella University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2023. The beginning of my career was spent working in the field of addictions and mental health at a partial care and IOP. For the past few years, I have focused on working with youth and families within the NJ Children’s System of Care.
I believe that wellness and recovery are impacted by various aspects of our lives and champion a holistic approach to help clients access the most of their potential. I use my empathy and creativity to assist clients in growing to their fullest potential and working through the process of self-discovery.
My Approach to Therapy
I specialize in utilizing a trauma-informed lens while implementing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I also assist clients to build coping skills and make lifestyle adjustments to support their personal goals.
I have experience working with individuals with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and trauma histories. I work with LGBTQIA+ individuals and pride myself in providing affirming care and compassion to all individuals I serve.
I am also passionate about counseling individuals with substance abuse disorders and/or family members that have been impacted by addiction. To help clients with addictions gain insight, motivation, and skill sets to nurture long-term recovery, I utilize techniques from Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Furthermore, I have experience in addressing patterns of codependency and trauma as it relates to the family’s/partners experiences that are supporting a recovering person or managing stress related to active addiction..
